New Salem and Lincoln's Long Nine Museum

We can arrange a stop at Lincoln’s New Salem or The Long Nine Museum. New Salem (a re-created log village where Lincoln spent close to 7 years) is located 20 minutes from Springfield. At New Salem you’ll see how Lincoln lived, fell in love, became a store keeper, postmaster and soldier.

At the Long Nine Museum in Athens, IL you’ll see where Lincoln actually surveyed a road and with 6 others spoke at a dinner in his honor in Athens, Illinois years later to commemorate the moving of the State Capital to Springfield. The original Post Office where Mr. Lincoln stopped is still located inside of the building and dioramas designed by the late Lloyd Ostendorf make this a little known must see diamond in the ruff.

These tours are historical and educational and cover all of Abraham Lincoln’s life in Springfield, New Salem and Athens, Illinois. Tours are by appointment only with free pickup from your hotel. We offer Step-On-Guides or we can organize a special tour for your group complete with air-conditioned motor coach or bus. Come live the Lincoln legacy with us in the town he called home.

Mission Statement

Our mission is the same as Abe Lincoln’s:“ I do the very best I know how, the very best I can; and I mean to keep on doing it to the end. If the end brings me out all right, what is said against me will not amount to anything. If the end brings me out all wrong, ten angels swearing I was right would make no difference.”
